Glynn Hunter recognized for distinguished leadership in international education
The Canadian Bureau for International Education (CBIE) recently announced its 2013 Excellence Awards and one of the University of Calgary’s own is among the recipients. Director of International Relations, Glynn Hunter will receive the CBIE President’s Award for Distinguished Leadership in International Education at CIBE’s annual conference next week.
“Glynn certainly deserves this prestigious award! It recognizes and honours Glynn’s wealth of experience and his contributions to building the University of Calgary’s international programs and reputation,” says Janaka Ruwanpura, vice-provost (International).
The CBIE’s award in the category of international education is based upon outstanding leadership in the internationalization of Canadian education and the international education profession beyond a candidate’s home institution. Hunter’s research has supported the development of best practices and the knowledge base of the field. As well, he has taught and mentored new professionals in his role as an instructor at the International Educators Training Program at Queen’s University.
“Glynn led the Centre for International Students and Study Abroad for many years, and the University of Calgary is one of the top institutions in Canada with a very high number of students achieving various international experiences. His award for leadership also reflects highly on our university’s efforts to improve our international student experiences and partnerships,” says Ruwanpura.
