Outdoor activities

Just remember to dress warmly before heading out!

  • Skating: Discover the joy of gliding on ice at some of Calgary’s top outdoor skating spots. Visit the University District, Olympic Plaza or Bowness Park for picturesque rinks that are perfect for a winter day out. Don’t have skates? You can rent a pair from the UCalgary Outdoor Centre. Here is a full list of outdoor public skating rinks in Calgary! Prefer to skate indoors? Head to the Olympic Oval on campus, home to the fastest ice in the world! Check out their public skate hours before you go.

  • Skiing or snowboarding at Winsport: Ready for an adrenaline rush? Hit the slopes at WinSport, where you can enjoy skiing, snowboarding, or even tubing. Located just minutes from downtown Calgary, it’s a must-visit for winter sports enthusiasts. Visit the WinSport website for the latest updates on available activities, pricing, and hours of operation.

  • Winter hikes: Experience the serene beauty of a snowy trail with a winter hike. Beginner-friendly spots like Troll Falls and Grassi Lakes are transformed into magical landscapes during the colder months.
