Quarantunes: FoN Edition April 20
Quarantunes is our weekly playlist project to share songs that are keeping our UCalgary Nursing Community going.
Rise Again - Leon Dubinsky (cover) Voices Rock Medicine
Daranne Harris, graduate student
"I absolutely love this for many reasons - we all have diverse gifts, women healthcare leaders, inspiration in tough times."
Let Go - Frou Frou
Karen Cook, senior manager, communications
"This is a song I first heard in one of my favourite movies, Garden State (2004). The movie is about a 26-year-old whose mum dies; one of the things he says in the movie is something like he has spent his whole life waiting for something else to start, but now he realizes this is what his life is.
And that's what this song is about: discovering yourself and doing what you need now because you just don't know what is going to happen (as the song says 'We've no time for later now'). So appropriate for what we are living through."
Something 'bout the music - Tobtok, AKA Goerge, Oliver Nelson
Megan Keszler, nursing instructor
"I have always been a fan of EDM (electronic dance music) since it first came on the scene. It is upbeat, celebratory, and boosts my mood on the way to work in the car. At home, it gives me energy and makes the dogs bark. I just love this song for the vibe it offers when you are feeling down."
I Hope You Dance - Lee Ann Womack
Georgina Bagstad, nursing instructor
"This song gives me courage and hope when life is not going as expected and fear takes hold."
Lovely Day - Bill Withers
Carla Ferreira, Instructor | Nursing Practice Simulation Coordinator
"This song reminds me of the special people in my life - the ones who keep me motivated and inspired. Plus, it's hard not to smile when you hear the first few seconds of the song!"
